Painted en plein air at Belton House, Lincolnshire, June 2020. After an extremely dry April and May I went out to paint after a day and a half of rain, and the roses looked so grateful for it! The overcast light conditions meant that I could really see all the subtle colour changes in the stone work. I spent a wonderful peaceful afternoon with the roses in the walled garden.
